Madonna fans are rallying around the star after she spent time in intensive care with a bacterial infection, with many saying she should cancel her upcoming Celebration tour so she can recuperate.

The Material Girl’s manager Guy Oseary announced this week that the singer had been in hospital, although reports suggest that she is now back at home.

He said on Instagram that her health was “improving” but that she was still under medical care and that she would need to “pause” all of her commitments, including the tour.

Fans have been sending their well wishes, with many saying they would understand if the 64-year-old needed to call off the gigs.

“Please get well soon!!” one tweeted. “Cancel if you have to just stay healthy !!”

“EVEN IF you think you feel OK you NEED STOP sometimes and care about your health bby!!!!!” said another.

“It’s not an easy thing! bby!! It’s better to cancel and then feel good!!!”

Another said: “Here I am, the original Madonna fan. Fact. No doubt and no regret. However, fellow #Madonna fans, let’s get her to cancel the #MadonnaCelebrationTour, Health is first priority. She will always be Queen… . with nothing left to prove. Let us stop being selfish.”

“If she doesn’t cancel this goddamn tour, then I’m gonna have to find a way to cancel it myself,” quipped another fan.

Madonna’s shows were due to start in July.

Oseary told the star’s fans in his statement: “On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU.

“Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care.

“A full recovery is expected.

“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.
